Here at Land Rover Dallas we all agree that safety comes first, which is why we are pleased to announce that ahead of its release, the 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport has been crash tested by the Euro NCAP and came out on top with a 5 star safety rating!
Every Discovery Sport is outfitted with a plethora of standard active and passive safety features including; Dynamic Stability Control, Electronic Traction Control, Roll Stability Control, Anti-lock Braking Systems, Reverse Traffic Detection, Emergency Brake Lights, Lane Departure Warning and Seatbelt Reminders.
The Pedestrian Protection System includes an air bag designed to reduce injury in the event the Land Rover collides with someone out taking a stroll. Additionally, a reversing camera is standard and the hazard lights automatically illuminate under heavy braking.
When opting for the HSE model, you will be granted with automatic high-beam assist and front park-assist sensors, while the HSE Lux is equipped with autonomous emergency braking. At speeds below 31 mph this technology can help avoid a collision, and when traveling at 49 mph or less the system can mitigate the severity of a collision, Land Rover says. Additional standard safety features for the HSE Lux version include lane-departure warning and blind-spot monitoring with Closing Vehicle Sensing and Reverse Traffic Detection.
Murray Dietsch, Director of Land Rover Programs, said: “The vehicle safety team worked tirelessly to ensure that the Discovery Sport delivered levels of safety never before seen in the small SUV segment. We have introduced some cutting edge safety technologies such as the all-new pedestrian airbag and an innovative Autonomous Emergency Braking system, in addition to our tried-and-tested Land Rover safety systems.”
