So there have been quite a few whispers being overheard here at Land Rover Dallas in Dallas, Texas, and from what we have gathered it seems as though Land Rover USA has given the green light for the production of the Range Rover Evoque, but don’t take our word for it!
The Evoque convertible debuted at the Geneva Auto Show last year as just a concept vehicle, but according to reputable sources it looks like it has been granted the go ahead for a 2014 launch.
The convertible is based on the three-door version of the existing coupe, and the soft-top will be electrically operated and will fold beneath the vehicle for a clean top-down appearance. Expect the same 2.0-liter 240 horsepower engine to rest underneath its hood, but look out for a new 9-speed automatic transmission to go with it.
More than 22 thousand Evoques have been sold since it arrived in 2012, and we are quite positive that those numbers will soar even higher if and when the convertible hits the streets.
