Land Rover Releases Special Edition Evoque

To celebrate six awesome years of the Land Rover Range Rover Evqoue, Land Rover is releasing a special edition, The Evoque Landmark.

The Range Rover Evoque has had tremendous success for Land Rover. In six years, Land Rover has produced 600,000 units, and the demand for the Range Rover Evoque is still increasing. March 2017 sales reached an all-time high for a single month with almost 18,000 units sold. In addition to its consumer popularity, the Range Rover Evoque has won over 200 awards, making it the most decorated Range Rover model.

The special edition, Evoque Landmark will be available in three different colors, Moraine Blue, Yulong White, and Corris Grey. Moraine Blue, a color designed for luxury, was inspired by the lakes in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

The Evoque Landmark made its debut at the Royal Windsor Horse Show on May 10. The Landmark Special Edition comes equipped with Land Rover’s latest technology. A 10-inch InControl Touch Pro system includes the Spotify app, a 4G Wi-Fi Hotspot, and a Remote Premium app for a smartphone or smart watch.

The Remote Premium app allows owners to check the status of their Land Rover without stepping foot inside the vehicle. Owners can check the vehicle’s location, whether it is locked or not, the fuel levels, and be able to cool or pre-heat the cabin all from their smartphone or smart watch.

“What makes Evoque so special is its relevance,” Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Chief Design Officer, said. “The design remains modern and fresh. The Evoque is widely acknowledged to have brought a whole new youthful generation of buyers into the Range Rover brand, including more women. Its success was clear from the start and gave us the confidence to break new ground, which you can see with vehicles like the Evoque Convertible. The Landmark Special Edition is a celebration of sex years of success so far.”

Jaguar Land Rover Steals the Show

Jaguar Land Rover made a splash at the Shanghai Motor Show in Shanghai, China! The Land Rover Range Rover Velar and the Jaguar I-PACE Concept made their Chinese debut.

In 2016, Jaguar Land Rover sold almost 120,000 vehicles in China, Jaguar Land Rover’s largest single market. After being a part of the Chinese market for just over a decade, Jaguar Land Rover has over 200 operational retailers, a Land Rover Experience Center, 10 apprentice training programs, and 3 training academies.

“Jaguar Land Rover is a technology company, creating world-class premium cars. Today, we have unveiled two revolutionary new vehicles – the Range Rover Velar and the Jaguar I-PACE Concept,” Dr. Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover CEO, said. “Jaguar Land Rover constantly pushes the boundaries and this spirit is embodied in both of these vehicles. China is of huge importance to us. It is our largest single market and over the past seven years our success and brand influence have been strong not just in terms of sales but in the facilities we have built here and the jobs we have created.”

The Land Rover Range Rover Velar will be built exclusively in the United Kingdom and will be made of Jaguar Land Rover’s incredible lightweight aluminum intensive architecture. The Range Rover Velar will be powered by the latest ultra-clean UK-built Ingenium engines.

The Jaguar I-PACE is Jaguar’s first concept of a performance SUV. Engineers and designers have worked tirelessly to create a vehicle that does compromise Jaguar’s outstanding luxury or performance. The Jaguar I-PACE Concept promises a long-distance range, incredible performance, and quick charging times.

In addition to the reveal of the new vehicles, Jaguar Land Rover has plans to increase the capacity of their Changshu plant by 70,000 vehicles. They also plan to expand existing facilities (like the body shop) and build a new trim and final shop. Currently, the Jaguar XF Long wheelbase, Land Rover Discovery, and Range Rover Evoque are all built at the Changshu plant.

Jaguar Land Rover Highlights Women in STEM Field

In celebration of International Women’s Day in March, Jaguar Land Rover released some new images and announced their partnership with Getty Images, a world leader in visual communication, to highlight the need for more realistic representations of women in STEM roles.

The images of women in STEM roles people usually find are dated and do not properly represent the variety and excitement these women experience in their careers. Jaguar Land Rover and Getty Images are striving to change that. Studies have shown that people searching for photos of women in STEM has risen by 526% in the past year.

“We have always championed women in the car business and are committed to inspiring more girls and women to consider careers in engineering and manufacturing,” Fiona Pargeter, Jaguar Land Rover Global PR Communications Director, said. “Our female workforce has grown from 9% to 11% over the past four years due to our focused STEM initiatives. But this is still far too low – businesses being proactive about using realistic imagery is one of the many ways that we can attract the bright minds we need into STEM careers.”

Jaguar Land Rover and Getty Images released pictures on March 8, 2017, International Women’s Day, of female Jaguar Land Rover employees in roles from aerodynamics to audio and cyber engineering. In addition to properly portraying women in STEM roles, Jaguar Land Rover and Getty Images hopes these pictures help to encourage women to apply for STEM jobs as well.

“Here at Jaguar Land Rover we need the diversity of skills that women bring to ensure we thrive and maintain our competitive edge for years to come,” Michelle Mortiboys, Vehicle Line Director, Jaguar Land Rover, said. “It is well known that gender diversification in business is not just healthy culturally but also propels progressiveness and innovation. Our partnership with Getty Images is not just about recruiting women into engineering, it’s a small part of the work that needs to be done to upscale female employees in the automotive sector as a whole.”

Jaguar Land Rover Partners with CloudCar

Jaguar Land Rover is committed to developing their vehicles with the latest technology and continuing to strive for excellence in the future. Recently, Jaguar Land Rover and Ford have been testing vehicles that can “talk” to one another.

Jaguar Land Rover hopes that by creating cars that communicate with each other, accidents will be eliminated and drive time will be cut down.

Vehicles that can “talk” to one another will be able to tell other cars their braking status, steering-wheel position, speed, which land they are in, and other data. Vehicles will be so in tune that you will not need to worry about accidents.

Over the next few years, Jaguar Land Rover plans to manufacture more than 100 vehicles to be used as research to further the technology needed for communicating cars.

One of the ways Jaguar Land Rover is moving forward with this project is by partnering with CloudCar. CloudCar is a developer of connected driver experiences, based in Palo Alto, California. The cloud services platform allows car manufacturers to use its capability by using machine-learning capabilities tied to various sensors in the car.

“This represents an important step in developing connected car technology,” Hanno Kirner, Executive Director of Corporate Strategy, Jaguar Land Rover, said. “CloudCar has been working with premium manufacturers on some of the most exciting opportunities and challenges in the fields of machine learning and infotainment. This investment is integral to Jaguar Land Rover’s vehicle technology program: but the program also presents an invaluable opportunity for other automotive manufacturers to get involved. The eventual need to integrate into the car hundreds of driver-focused global cloud services and content means this platform is an excellent example were cooperation between OEMs can improve outcomes for customers, as well as reducing costs.”

Jaguar Land Rover is planning to include the next-generation CloudCar platform in the Jaguar I-PACE, its first fully electric model.

Land Rover Reborn

Land Rover’s original Series 1 is truly a classic. First launched at the Amsterdam Motor Show on April 30, 1948, the Series 1 has an 80-inch wheelbase, a pick-up body, and was originally priced at around 450 pounds.

When starting to draft the first design for the Land Rover, the consumer was always at the forefront. Due to the large amount of people working in agriculture in the 1940’s, Land Rover’s Series 1 sought to accommodate the consumer by excelling in the field, like a tractor, as well as transportation.

Over the years many Series 1s have challenged expectations and assisted in discovering new lands. Land Rover Reborn is selecting 25 authentic Series 1s that have fallen into disrepair to make the trip to our home of the original Defender factory in Solihull, England.

Once at our factory, our team of experts will professionally restore the Series 1s to their original 1948 state. We believe that not one of our vehicles is the same. Especially with the Series 1s. Each Series 1 has its own unique history. Each had its own life it its own part of the world. It is our goal to restore each vehicle’s authenticity and uniqueness.

Each vehicle undergoes an examination so we know exactly what needs to be restored to what specification.

If you are willing to spend the money, you can purchase a Series 1 and even select which original paint color you would like for it to be (Light Green, Bronze Green, Royal Air Force Blue, Dove Gray, or Poppy Red) and what material you would like the seats recovered with. When restoring the Series 1s, it is our goal to retain each vehicles character and authenticity.

Tours are also available, so if you are a car enthusiast but do not have the money to bring a Series 1 home, you can see the restoration in person at our Solihull facility.
